Another good strategy is to let your hull get to 1 by standing in an asteroid field with your shields and engine unpowered for your own safety wait for your FTL Drive to charge before doing this orand get a defense drone ready in the event an asteroid hits your shields or engine. 2 ion damage which stun for 10 seconds. Ion stunner replaced with Burst ion stunner 2 power 2 shots 11 sec charge time.

With two mk1 ion bursts you can keep shields down permanently as you will be adding to the timer slightly faster than it expires and more importantly the disabled shields do not come back until the entire timer expires. Ion damage is temporary and unless you have level 3 sensors it is best to be single-minded in your use. It cant self-stack without a Reloader for an authentic Engi B experience.

Ion Burst Stunner. Ion stunner replaced with Basic Ion. The Ion Stunner is even better than the Ion Blast I.

The Ion Charger is similarly serviceable. Ion Stunner can help with crew kills. Since FTL is a game of RNG you want to minimize any variance as much as possible.

Deals 3 Ion damage. The one exception in amazing tier would be the pike beam and thats because its fairly easy to get something to. Heavy Ion Stunner Ion weapons can disable systems without causing hull damage.

This is a good setup for early ships but you will need to upgrade your weapons if you want to defeat shield level 3 or higher enemies. Fires 1 shot with 1 ion damage. Requires 1 power and takes 10 seconds to recharge.

These loadouts can be reverted back to their originals with an additional optional mod CE Vanilla Player Ship Loadouts. The Ion Stunner is to delay repairs on a damaged ship and with the dual lasers makes it a cost effective weapon setup and easier to upgreade. The weapons at the top of the list are consistently effective in almost any ship set-up.

Ion Stunner Ion weapons can cause system damage without causing hull damage. The Chain Laser starts out with a slower cooldown time than the Ion Stunner only to drop all the way down to 7 seconds after its third shot. Double-tap 2 power 2 shots 1 ion damage each 5 second stun 13s cooldown costs 45 scrap.

One of the worst weapons in the game. It looks more like a rebel ship than a Federation ship and instead of having a Burst. Heavy ion replaced with Heavy ion stunner 3 power 3 ion.

Requires 3 power and is ridiculously slow to get rolling - even the awful Heavy Ion is more useful because it combos better with other ion weaponry. However it can only be shot once per battle Costs 50. Can only be used once per battle.

The Heavy Ion is garbage. Heavy Ion Stunner stun increased to 10 seconds from 7 Vanilla is 3. But sometimes its be better to fire them together.

Renamed to Ion Blast Stunner. This ion weapon stuns crew inside the room for 5 seconds Costs 35. The Captains Edition loadouts show off some of the new features in the mod as well as create a tougher challenge.

Fires a 1px Ion Beam with no cooldown. The second layout of the Kestrel is the Red-Tail. Burst Laser I is serviceable.

Ion stunner replaced with upgraded Burst Ion stunner 1 power 2 shots 10 sec charge time. Enemy Heavy Ion Halberd is a much more precise dodge. Cattle prod 2 power 2 ion damage 7 second stun 14s cooldown costs 50 scrap.

Starts ready to fire. If all shots hit the ion will disable a second weapon even a two-power weapon. Notably the Charge Ion is actually very good and a far superior weapon.

Because some shots will miss dont get greedy. The stun gives it more personality and clever uses. This ion weapon uses no power charges instantly and fires a strong ion beam capable of taking out enemy shields very effectively.

Has a high chance to stun crew. Artemis is okay and is the only one that is even mediocre. In the advanced edition of FTL a number of stunning weapons have been introduced whose primary function seems to be stunning the enemy crew for a certain number of seconds.

The Ion Blast and Ion Blast II are both reasonably good. Destroy O2 then stun whoever repairs it. Each of the player ships have gained and lost weapons drones and systems with the change to Captains Edition.

This includes crew in the shields room if the shields themselves were hit. This ion weapon stuns crew inside the room for 10 seconds 2 power 16 second charge. Stuns all crew in affected room for 5 seconds.

Heavy Ion Stunner charge time returned to 13 from 12. Costs 50 scrap and has level 4 rarity. Personally Id sell off the ion stunner and get the heavy laser II.

Ive yet to be able to justify its use in any serious run. The Chain Ion is little better. Heavy Ion Stunner.

These two are still inferior to the Burst II Laser on some of the higher ships on this tier list although having Hacking on hand to boost their performance helps a lot. You can fire the Ion Stunner immediately and the shield will still be down for the lasers. Flak should usually take down three layers of shields so heavy lasers work real well with that.

Phase Ions Phase Ions pass through shields dealing ion. Main problem will be taking the time to upgrade weapons two more times but once you got it thats 6 damage to any room plus a chance for breach or fire. Additionally some basic ion weapons and others have been given a low chance of stunning enemies.

Ionic elite 3 power 4 shots max 1 ion damage.
